Golden Tea (Milk) Recipe Transformed into Hot Cereal – Winter Favorite

golden-milk-2

I absolutely love golden tea, especially during cold weather months. This milk/tea always feels warming, filling, nutritious and simply satisfying. And it’s loaded with health benefits from turmeric, fresh ginger, cinnamon, ground black pepper, honey. When I strain it, the leftover paste looks like it can heal just about anything (while staining it yellow of course :-)). Any kind of nut-milk can be used as the base. I like mine with unsweetened, vanilla almond milk.

Here’s my favorite recipe: https://wellnessmama.com/223/turmeric-tea/

Today I wanted something a little heartier so I tried transforming the recipe into a hot cereal. I added a couple of spoons of Cream of Rice to the pot after the rest of the ingredients were well stirred. Adding rice required that I let the mixture simmer for a couple of minutes (you don’t want it to get to a hard boil, just enough to cook the rice). After the simmer, I slowly and thoroughly stirred in a tablespoon of honey. Then added a couple of handfuls of raisins. Then sliced a banana into a bowl and poured the concoction over the nanners (without straining). All I can say is…

Yummmm.

It’s nice to feel psyched up about healthy food especially when it tastes so good. 🙂 What are some of your favorite cold weather recipes?

Happy D!
