Reviving the Sacred Feminine: The Power of Honor

The sacred feminine, within our culture, has been neglected, abandoned, shamed, and betrayed for too long.

Ten years ago, I googled the word “honor.” All of the images that showed up were military, religious, or triumphant. Swords and medals and laurel wreaths. There was nothing of the sacred feminine there. Nothing soft, nothing receptive, nothing life-giving. Like she wasn’t even invited to the party.

Yesterday, I googled “honor” again. The same images appeared. Ten years later, and she still hasn’t been invited. She’s been left out for so long, we’ve forgotten she belongs at the center.

We are going to free her.
We are going to revive her.
We are going to bring her back to life.
We are going to make her feel like a woman again.

She was born to flourish.

And there is no true happiness without her.

How are we going to do this?

We are going to name her as honorable.

At Joy-Based Living, we are reviving the word honor to include her. Not as someone who needs to be fixed or figured out, but as inherently worthy.

Trustworthy. Life-giving. Wise.

Honor is how she returns to the center. Honor is how she takes root again… in bodies, in relationships, in culture.

When the sacred feminine is honored, she doesn’t need permission to rise.

She rises naturally.

This is the work.
This is the restoration.
This is how joy grows deep roots and high branches.
This is how we revive the beauty, the love, the compassion, and the healing in our culture.

With honor.

The next time someone searches for the word “honor,” they should feel her there. In full blossom.

Much love,

Debbie

Honor

When the goodness in people is honored,
they become empowered to stand strong
in their true, authentic, invincible greatness.

At Joy-Based Living, we’re writing daily blog posts about honor to change what the internet thinks this word means.
