Do you take too many photos? Do you read too many books? What’s your quirk?

AWWWEEEESOOOOOMMMMMEEEEEE! ME TOO!!

I’m so flippin over the people who make fun of people for their quirks. All this does is SMOTHER people who feel insecure (artists, creatives??) . . . and they get quieter.

So many amazing people are very actively HIDING their flippin’ amazing talents TODAY RIGHT NOW because of fear of judgment, ridicule, humiliation, disapproval. YES, I agree, it would be helpful for them to get thicker skin. But YOU don’t have to be part of the problem.

Judgment – even in a look or a glance – increases fear and decreases joy. Fuck that shit.

If you’re a good friend, then be a great encourager!

GET TO KNOW your friends’ quirks. Even if you’re not interested in the quirk itself, be curious about THE PERSON! WHAT IS their quirk? Be fascinated BY THEIR FASCINATION.

YOUR KIND, UNDIVIDED ATTENTION IS A GENEROUS, CREATIVE ENERGY THAT BREATHES LIFE INTO OTHERS. IT’S THE GREATEST GIFT YOU CAN GIVE.

I have a friend who LOOOVES Burning Man and sad/angry songs. I’m mildly interested in the burn and I don’t really like her music. But I LOVE her uniqueness. I LOVE that she loves these things.

FASCINATION AND CURIOSITY ARE THE MAINSTAYS OF A FREE AND JOYFUL WORLD AND AS A GOOD FRIEND OR A COACH, IT’S UP TO YOU TO CELEBRATE THOSE QUALITIES IN OTHERS!!

WHAT I LOVE MOST IS THE LIGHT IN A PERSON’S EYES. I LIVE FOR THIS AND WILL DO JUST ABOUT ANYTHING TO SEE IT MANIFEST AND GROW.

It’s not about the content. It’s NEVER about the content.

It’s about the RELATIONSHIP. It’s about the JOY!

It’s about BELIEVING!

Lately, I’ve been writing A LOT. Some deep, clear waters rose up like springwater from my depths and I’m loving the flow. I just learned that the Pakistan flag is GREEN. Know why? Because someone in PAKISTAN just read my blog and the flag showed up in my stats. How cool is that?

What’s YOUR quirk? What FLOATS YOUR BOAT?

Here’s a poem from my heart to yours.

I’m a fruitcake
a misfit
a wizard
and a nerd

I love learning
and listening
and leading
I love them all

I’m an artist
a bookworm
a poet
and a rhymer

I wish I was like
some of my friends
who are really, truly
amazing designers

Music and movies,
fairytales and myths
these feed my heartDebbie Chattanooga Rembrandts with Orion March 29 2019 Spring

And OMG,
I LOVE DAIKON RADISHES
ORGANICALLY GROWN
OLALA!!
BLENDING GOLDEN FLUID PAINTS
MAKES ME HIGH
AND WHEN I CELEBRATE
I REALLY ENJOY A GREAT CIGAR.

I’m a fool for quirks. I hope you’ll run with some of these thoughts and set your quirky-quirks FREE!

The world is HUNGRY for more Po-Si-Ti-Vi-TEE!

Feed the world. Develop yourself. Grow a thicker skin. Get some cheerleaders surrounding you.

And if no one else does – just know –

I believe in you!

Much love,

Happy D!

  1. So, yeah, I’m totally appreciative of (and WAY on board with) one of this post’s most essential messages, Debbie… and I thank you for putting such revved up & inspiring embellishment on it! In the words of Jimi Hendrix: “Let your freak flag fly!” 🙂
And ONE of the many quirky-turkey ways I do that each day is to say a silent grace each time I sit down to eat a meal, and I don’t start eating until I feel a truly full sense of gratitude in my heart & soul for all I’ve been given/gifted with by Life/God/Spirit at that moment… no matter how long I take to let me heart & soul fill up with that clear-and-conscious gratitude, the feeling of being blessed with all of this abundance before me, all around me and within me. Call me quirky, but it sure makes me feel good to be alive in my shoes!
P.S.: Given I live alone currently, I don’t feel obliged to “cut it short” so others can start chowing down! 😉
    P.S.S.: WOO-HOO for quirky-turkeys!!!

    1. Interesting… I see that more as a really good habit than a quirk… but it’s all in the eyes of the beholder. I think you calling your prayer time quirky IS what’s quirky!!

I like the word quirky that’s why I keep writing it. Quirky.

Let yo freak flag fly hi!

  2. Yeah, I hear ya’… “all in the eyes of the beholder” seems like the operative phrase to praise here! 😉
